K-drama Review: She Was Pretty (2015)

Hello hello, I just finished another famous drama of 2015 in a week. At first my friends recommended this drama for me last year and I didn't really interested because in a glance I didn't really know the casts. Later on, I became interested to watch this drama because there was Choi Siwon as second male lead and I downloaded all episodes right before watch Kill Me Heal Me. Then, I become more interested to watch this drama since I have watched Hwang Jung Eum & Park Seo Joon's great acting in Kill Me Heal Me first.

Ahem... A story about ugly duckling that transforms into a beautiful swan is such a boring story, and actually this drama presented the opposite version.

Plot
A romantic comedy about two past acquaintances who meet again after they've gone through a reversal of fortunes and appearances, set in the backdrop of a fashion magazine's publishing office.

Kim Hye-jin was a very pretty girl from a rich family. After her family's publishing company went bankrupt, she experienced hardships then lost her beauty too. Ji Sung-joon was an unattractive boy with low self-esteem, but grows up as a handsome and successful editor.

The two decided to meet again as adults, but Sung-joon was unable to recognize Hye-jin. Ashamed to meet her first love and ruin his perception of her, Hye-jin asks her attractive best friend, Ha-ri, to appear in her place. Things, however, soon get complicated as Hye-jin was assigned to work at The Most magazine publishing office where Sung-joon is the deputy chief editor. He openly mistreats and belittles her for her clumsy nature, not knowing that she was his real childhood friend. Ha-ri also continues to meet Sung-joon, and soon develops feelings for him. On the other hand, Hye-jin finds a good friend in her workplace, Shin-hyuk, who slowly falls in love with her.

Hye Jin (ugly duckling) & Ha Ri (always swan)

embarrassing first encounter of Hye Jin & Shin Hyuk

Pretty Hye Jin & Fatty Seong Joon in the past

TRIVIA: Jung Da-bi (young Kim Hye Jin, that also played role as Kim Hye Jin's little sister) debuted in Wonderful Life (2005) as Han Shin-bi; yes that cutie of Kim Jae Won & Eugene :D :D She's a grown up girl now and her acting is getting awesome!

Best friend forever! They even address each other as "Wifey"

They're complementing each other

The dork Kim Shin Hyuk. No matter how annoying he was, people never can be really upset of him, because he's the team mood maker

Seo Joon's bright smile & Shin Hyuk's thick beard. Oh nooo I don't like Choi Siwon with beard T_T

THOSE CHOCOLATE ABS!! *faint*

moments of Hye Jin & Seong Joon

*fluttered*

later on, Hye Jin straightened her hair again and she looked so pretty

Overall Thoughts
I LOVE THIS DRAMA. There is no single episode that boring. This drama is total FUN and UNIQUE.
This drama explain well the strong bonds of friendship and true love. True love doesn't look at outer appearance. However you've become, if you are you; I still love you *aww*. I love how sweet the friendship of Hye Jin & Ha Ri. I love how dork (sometimes annoying) Shin Hyeok is. Oh mamamiaaa I didn't know if Siwon's acting was that cool!
When I was watching this drama, I initially felt weird to see Hwang Jung Eum paired with Park Seo Joon. As you know, they were dorky siblings in Kill Me Heal Me previously; but I guess that made their chemistry become even better and close to each other. No no, they won't be a real couple, as Jung Eum just married this February XD

So, I recommend you to watch this drama!

Rating: 8,5/10
